Excellent Outcomes
Cathy-Lea students achieve incredible things every year through their performing arts training.
Both boys and girls have gained roles in professional shows and entry to full-time dance and performing arts courses. Many students receive scholarships and awards each year at eisteddfods, through Dance associations and in schools. Our student teacher program has led many young people to gain qualifications and employment as teachers. Each year our VCE dance students achieve excellent results, with several being invited to perform in the Top Acts shows. We believe that excellent teaching is the key factor in achieving outstanding student outcomes. We have high expectations of students and encourage them to achieve their personal best in every class. Accredited syllabi are taught in most disciplines giving students structured and developmentally appropriate frameworks on which to build and refine technical skills. Independent assessments from professional associations give parents feedback on the quality of tuition students are receiving as well as students’ individual progress. By achieving accredited levels, students can progress to recognised teaching and performing standards. Students have goals to work towards and can celebrate personal achievements. Those who seek more competitive opportunities can engage in elite performance classes. Troupes and soloists win numerous awards and prizes at eisteddfods around Melbourne each year, and while we value these achievements, we are aware that they are only a very small part of a young performer’s training and development |
Principal’s comment: |
DanceClassical ballet is recommended as the essential foundation to any course of dance study. Classes are offered in the internationally Cecchetti method...
