Overview - Certificate II in Dance                                           
This course develops basic Dance and performance industry skills.
Entry is open to students in years 10-12 of all Dance abilities.
Exceptional year 9 students will be considered.
Delivery is part-time over 2 years.
Areas of study include:
  • Establishing technique in selected Dance styles
  • Developing fitness
  • Developing audition skills
  • Working with others
  • Preparing for performances
  • Developing performance skills
  • Safe Dance practice


​Overview - Certificate III in Dance
This course further develops students' Dance technique and enables students to start to develop specialisms either in dance performance or dance teaching. 
​Entry is open to students aged 15+ with established Dance skills via application and audition.
Student may take the whole course at Cathy-Lea Studios or may undertake the theory component with Cathy-Lea and complete dance technique classes at their own studios. 
Delivery is part-time over 2 years.
Areas of study include:
  • Developing technique in selected Dance styles
  • Incorporating musicality in Dance
  • Incorporating artistic expression in Dance
  • Compositional skills
  • Improvisational skills
  • Managing feedback
  • Assistant Dance teaching

VCE VET Dance
Certificate III in Dance (CUA30120) can be taken as a part of a a scored VCE VET program contributing to a student's ATAR.  It can also be studied as an unscored VET or VCAL subject.   
Overview - Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management
This course is suitable for experienced dancers interested in pursing dance teaching or practising teachers seeking certification. 
Entry is open to students aged 17+ with well-established Dance skills via application. 
Delivery is over 2 years part-time.
Areas of study include:
  • Teaching selected Dance techniques
  • Creating safe teaching environments
  • Supporting students' wellbeing
  • Inclusive practice
  • Interacting appropriately with children
  • Designing and implementing Dance programs
  • Developing choreographic skills
  • Planning and conducting assessment
All courses are offered through partnership with DTO (RTO 45789) and are a part of Nationally Recognised Training.
