Elite & Recreational Streams
Cathy-Lea’s philosophy has always been to teach all children well regardless of age, gender or ability.
We believe that all students deserve to be taught well – whether aiming for a career in performing arts, or just seeking a recreational activity! Recreational students may attend classes for fun or fitness, once a week or several times a week. They may choose to complete examinations from recognised Dance organisations including Cecchetti International Ballet, the Australian Teachers of Dancing and the Southern Federation of Dance. We have special needs classes for children and adults with differences. All students receive a medal annually recognising their participation in classes through the year. The Elite program has been developed over 20 years to incorporate best international practice in Dance training. Students are taught to be all-round performers with an emphasis on developing strong technical dance skills and gaining extensive performance experience. Our most experienced teachers train students in Ballet, Contemporary, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Acrobatics, Singing, Elite Body Conditioning, Dance Skills & Technique as well as Troupe and Crew Work. Junior Elite students are training a minimum of 4 ½ hours per week with older students training 6 or more hours per week. Private coaching sessions are available for individual training, conditioning, extension and solo work. Fees are packaged to make training at this level highly affordable. Students from this stream regularly gain scholarships and places in full-time dance courses as well as professional performance work. |
Principal’s comment: |
DanceClassical ballet is recommended as the essential foundation to any course of dance study. Classes are offered in the internationally Cecchetti method...
