Malaika is passionate in teaching various styles to students of all ages and skill levels. She has trained at Cathy-Lea for 13 years in a broad range of performing arts styles, competing with our Elite Performance Team since 2017.
Malaika’s achievements in dance include winning both National and State ATOD Jazz championships, competing interstate with school, traveling and dancing New York City and completing VCE VET Dance at Berwick College. She has performed with various companies such as The Tannos Collective, Boss Dance Company, Indefinite Dance Company, Stella Youth Dance company and was Dance Captain at Berwick College in 2022. In addition to this Malaika was also accepted into the Joffrey Ballet School Summer Intensives receiving a scholarship for Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Musical Theatre in New York. As well as dance, Malaika is also passionate about singing and acting. She has performed in CPAC's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as Violet Beauregard, Casey’s Carols by Twilight as a backup vocalist and dancer and was featured as an extra on ABC's "The Spooky Files". She is currently singing as contracted performer in the “Spice Up Your Night” tribute show as Scary Spice! Between studying and performing, Malaika aims to create a positive and inclusive learning environment in her classes, committed to inspiring the next generation of performers at Cathy-Lea Studios! |
