Graduates
Every year, Cathy-Lea graduates are accepted into full-time performing arts courses. We currently have graduates training at the Australian Ballet School, the Victorian College of the Arts, the Ministry of Dance, Melbourne City Ballet, Patrick Studios Australia, Kelly Aykers Studios, Spectrum Dance, Transit Dance and Collarts University. Several of our graduates also pursue careers in performing arts education with some owning their own studios and working in schools.
Tahlia Lewis
Tahlia Lewis began training at Cathy-Lea at the age of 3 in our pre-school program and went on to train with our Elite Training Program for many years, performing in troupes and as a soloist at many events.
During her years training at the studio she achieved Honours for all Cecchetti ballet exams and Honours or Honours with Distinction for SFD and ATOD jazz exams. She won the Kristy Gambera “Passion to Dance” scholarship, the Brenda Chapman scholarship, and several other ballet and jazz eisteddfod scholarships and awards. In 2007 Tahlia was selected as a Cecchetti scholar. During 2008-2009 she was selected to train at the Australian Ballet School. In 2010 she was selected to perform at the SFD “Dance Fusion” syllabus launch. The same year, she was chosen to perform at Dandenong Plaza in the holiday entertainment show “Let’s Dance” with Pania Taku from “So You Think You Can Dance Australia”. In 2011 she won the Lucie Saranova Memorial Award for most outstanding results in the state for Advanced 1 Cecchetti International Classical Ballet exam. Tahlia studied VCE Dance and was selected for the "Top Class" showcase of excellence in VCE solos. In the last 3 years Tahlia has trained full-time at both Dance World and Transit Dance Studios. |
